“Kiss me, I’m Irish”, they say…
Well, guess what?!? When you visit Savannah on St. Patrick’s Day, and, in fact, the entire weekend surrounding the festivities that transform our lovely city into a completely, um, “IRISH” town – you don’t even HAVE to be Irish to have the best time of your life.
Don’t take my word for it. Listen to what others say about Savannah on St. Patrick’s Day:
Everyone’s Talking about How Awesome it is to Visit Savannah on St. Patrick’s Day
- MSN Travel rates Savannah’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade #2 in the country (only after Boston, which is still really cold on St. Patrick’s Day…come to where the flowers are blooming and the sun is shining!)
- US News Travel rates Savannah’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade #4 in the country (after Boston, Chicago and NYC)
- Reuters rates Savannah just before Galway, Ireland when ranking the top places to visit for St. Patrick’s Day
Don’t even take their word(s) for it. Just pack up your celebratory spirit, a big group of friends (or your favorite beloved – your anam cara as the Irish would say) and your greenest clothes. Ladies, grab some red lipstick because you’ll be kissing lots of “Irish” cheeks and spreading that luck to many a cheek during the parade! When you get here, you’ll figure it out.
St. Patrick’s Day Events in Savannah

We’ll tell you all about those when you get here! The big bang comes on Saturday, March 16, 2013 – the parade that starts exactly at 10:15am then meanders along for 3 WHOLE HOURS! For a tradition that started in 1813 we’re sure that the volunteer St. Patrick’s Day Parade committee has something special planned for party-goers and onlookers of this years’ 189th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade. There’s EVEN a Savannah St. Patrick’s Day website!

I don’t run. I don’t like to sweat. I don’t like exercise basically, so I nearly missed this reference in the newspaper recently. Following the wildly successful NYC Beerathon, Boston Beerathon and Houston Beerathon, someone suggested Savannah, GA to host a “Beerathon” on November 10, 2012 – and of course, Savannah accepted. It is logical that Savannah would be chosen, we are after all home to three local breweries, several pub crawl tours, and the ever growing and wildly popular Savannah Craft Brew Festival. We have a very vibrant college student body (SCAD and Armstrong-Atlantic, to name a few), a quirky fun and eclectic group of residents and, well, we are known to party – have you ever heard of our St. Paddy’s Day Parade?
