March is alive with the sound of Music! Whether we are speaking of the Wedding March Music or a Symphony, Jazz to African Drums, it’s all here, all for you, and as easy as 1-2-3. So, where do we start? Jeremy Davis and The Equinox Jazz Quartet will be with us at the Telfair Museums for a peek into Savannah’s Signature Bridal Event. Bonus for you: just be the first two engaged couples to book your two-night stay between February 28 and March 3 and you will be admitted for free – a $40 value per couple! Not planning a wedding? That’s okay cause we have more music to captivate your soul and so much more this March.
“Every year, hundreds of the best up-and-coming bands make the long trek down I-95 to Austin’s Prestigious South by Southwest Music Conference. Where do they stop along the way? You guessed it!” The Savannah Stopover Festival is in its third year now and we are more than happy to join in the dance that is music.
We find ourselves laughingly captivated by the Stopover organization’s blurb, “Bands will enjoy the quirky, shamelessly social elements of Georgia’s Hostess City while festival goers will be exposed to up-and-coming bands in closer, more personal environs.” With 100 performances over three days do you seriously need another reason to visit Savannah in March? March Music Madness has never looked so wonderful!
Well, okay then. Not only do we have the honor of hosting some seriously incredible up and coming bands from March 6 thru March 9th but hot on the heels of this epic event is our never to be missed St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festivities that begins on March 14 and culminates in a day of debauchery (okay seriously raucous partying) that follows the parade. But wait, of course there’s more…
Savannah Music Festival is a three-week long event (commencing on March 20 and running through April 5) that allows immersion into nearly every genres of music you can imagine – Americana/Folk/Traditional, Chamber/Symphonic, Dance, International/World, Jazz/Blues/Cabaret, Pop/Rock/R&B – you choose. Get excited, tune yourself on to new adventures in music, explore the possibilities, but don’t forget to reserve your rooms for this major music force worthy to be part of March Music Madness!
Ever wonder what is behind the walls of some beautiful, historic, iconic, magnificent Historic District Homes? You don’t have to stand outside looking in. March is also the hostess month for the 79th Annual Savannah Tour of Homes and Gardens. We are, of course, thrilled to share with you that we were honored to be a Featured Garden in the 71st Tour of Homes and Gardens (in our first 12 months of operation!). Our gardens have continued to grow and be featured in publications, tours and stories in the years since and with the addition of the property next door we are able to festoon our breakfast plates with homegrown produce at least nine months of the year!
If you can’t join us in March to tour gardens, we have one more chance for you to peek behind the walls in April. Join the Garden Club of Savannah for its 39th Annual NOGS Tour of Hidden Gardens, April 25th and 26th, 2014. It is always an honor to take a peek behind the gates of some of the historic districts most impressive gardens. Tours are self-guided, are open from 10 to 4 each day, and cost $40.
