Azalea Inn and Gardens supports Savannah Pride 2012 which will be held on September 8 in Forsyth Pak. The organization strives for equality and unity in the Savannah, GA area. Their mission is to promote social awareness and unity through diversity for the LGBT community throughout the South. Events in the form of parties and gatherings at local supporting businesses are held and donations are collected to fund the organization and the main event, Savannah Pride Festival 2o12.
The headliner for this year’s festival will be JoJo. This 20 year old’s powerhouse vocals will draw in a large crowd of fans both old and new. Her first album “JoJo” was released when she was 13 and was an instant hit on pop charts around the globe; especially the track “Leave: Get Out” which reached number one on the top 40 list in 2006. JoJo was the youngest artist to ever have a number one on the US pop charts. A second album was released at the age of 15, and her most recent album, at age 20, is “Jumping Trains”.
There will be many more vendors than in previous years with booths lining the open areas of Forsyth Park. Last year there were over 50 participating and the Pride board is confident they will match or exceed the amount of vendors this year. Along with the vendors and live entertainment throughout the day, there will be food and drink! Savannah Pride is promotes a family friendly and family oriented atmosphere. In doing so Savannah Pride wishes to raise awareness, acceptance, and equality at all age levels.
