A Festival Devoted to Bacon in Savannah

Bacon in SavannahDo YOU love bacon? You wouldn’t be alone. Especially when you come to visit Savannah during the first weekend in September for the inaugural BACON FEST in our hostess city. No, we aren’t joking, there really is a festival devoted to bacon in Savannah.

What Will Happen at Bacon Fest?

Savannah is home to amazing restaurants that will feed you so well you’ll be glad America has voted it one of the best walking cities in the country. Local restaurants will showcase their bacon creations on Friday, September 5 from 4-10pm and Saturday, September 6 from 10am-10pm at the Rousakis Riverfront Plaza. First Friday and Saturday on the Riverfront is a celebration of the end of the week and the beginning of a new month, with fireworks at 9:30 pm.

Bacon Fest is free and open to the public. You just show up and sample the variety of delicious creations.

How to Get to Bacon Fest in Savannah

First, reserve your favorite room at our Inn! Once you are settled in you’ll mosey on down Drayton Street till you cross over Bay Street where a slight right will lead you to a very steep set of stairs!  At the bottom of the stairs continue towards the River Street where you will then turn left. Rousakis Riverfont Plaza will be the only thing between you and the river.

River Street is the bustling waterfront of the Savannah River where to-go cups are the norm and majestically tall cargo ships slowly churn the river on their way to our port. You can watch local musical performers, absorb the sights, and maybe even find a few treasured souvenirs to take home.

What If I Can’t Make It to Bacon Fest in Savannah?

Wow! Know lots of folks who should be booking their airfare and rooms right now for this festival. I shared it on FB to spread the word. Can not believe that bacon has grown into it’s own foodie cult!

Must be because doctors say it is bad for you, so natural we crave more!
