Savannah, GA to Host “Beerathon”, November 10, 2012

I don’t run. I don’t like to sweat. I don’t like exercise basically, so I nearly missed this reference in the newspaper recently. Following the wildly successful NYC Beerathon, Boston Beerathon and Houston Beerathon, someone suggested Savannah, GA to host a “Beerathon” on November 10, 2012 – and of course, Savannah accepted. It is logical that Savannah would be chosen, we are after all home to three local breweries, several pub crawl tours, and the ever growing and wildly popular Savannah Craft Brew Festival.  We have a very vibrant college student body (SCAD and Armstrong-Atlantic, to name a few), a quirky fun and eclectic group of residents and, well, we are known to party – have you ever heard of our St. Paddy’s Day Parade?

Please do not be confused – this is NOT an actual running marathon of course, that would be potentially dangerous, wouldn’t you agree? What these two events do have in common though is the number “26”.  Marathon runners torture themselves for 26 excruciating sweaty miles.  Beerathon participants will be visiting 26 bars with the opportunity to sample 26 beers!  The participating bars are set close enough to each other in the Historic District of Savannah that traffic flow should be smooth.  So, the Beerathon is ON! Come enjoy craft brews in beautiful Historic Savannah, GA as well as excellent food in most participating venues. There will also be live music events and don’t forget, the thing that makes the Beerathon so enjoyable and easy, is the open container law in the Historic District!

Azalea Inn and Gardens  is within walking distance of all venues so stay safe and plan a night or two with us. We offer complimentary parking in our private lot so plan to leave your car here with us while you explore our city and drink the area’s fine craft brews.
